This was my first “wedding photography” experience as a budding photographer more that 12 yrs ago. I photographed Kara & Eric’s wedding recently and have some great images I’d love to share! We actually started shooting at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza where both the bride & groom were getting ready. After grabbing details, toasts & the “bridal transformation” we were off to Calamigos. Earlier in the month I had the joy of photographing Carina & Alex’s wedding in Burbank, CA. It was an absolute privilege and honor to be asked to capture this wedding for them. It was obvious to myself and everybody present that Carina & Alex have a very special relationship. I felt an incredible sense of honor and respect between them and their families.. and I hope I was able to capture this touching element! This wedding was also special for me because I photographed Alex’s parent’s vow renewal wedding a few years ago. I remembered Alex from this event and was overjoyed when he called me about his own. I started shooting at the Martinez residence and then onto The Castaway restaurant for the ceremony and reception. Also thank you to Meghan Lubeck for the wonderful assistance. On this beautiful Easter weekend wedding in the desert, I had the privilege of photographing Kim & George’s “vintage” style wedding. This wedding was so much fun, it’s almost challenging to describe. For starters, Kim was a gorgeous bride, adorned with stunning details and full of a contagious joy (that only photos can capture). From the family, to the bridal party and guests, this was an event that will be remembered for many amazing things. For me, listening to Kim & George recite their deep, meaningful vows was truly a touching moment (see detail below).

This weekend was also super fun because I had the joy of working with one of my favorite planners, Holly Schoenke with Simply Sweet Weddings. I had the privileged of photographing Julie & Tom’s wedding this last Saturday at Bel-Air Bay Club in Pacific Palisades which is one of my all-time favorite venues… An old-Hollywood feel, crystal-clear skies and cobalt-blue ocean are just a few of the features that stand out. The day itself was absolutely gorgeous and and I knew this wedding wouldn’t be any different. We photographed another family wedding for Julie’s sister a few years ago, so this was a nice chance to reconnect with familiar faces in familiar places! On this day I had pleasure of working with one of my good friends Asgeir, who is an amazing photographer. He provided additional vantage points and splendid details. Everything was immaculate, from the venue itself to the smallest detail. One of my favorite vendors Enchanted Florist provided the array of amazing floral arrangements. Ah yes, the wonderful element of rain. The forecast had called for pretty severe weather on this day, which was odd because for several days prior and several after, there were blue skies and a warm sun. That being said, everything turned out perfectly! The rain added a sense of drama… and as if on cue, the clouds parted and the sun appeared right when it came time to take most of the primary images.

I’ve known both Meghan & Josh for only a few months, but it seemed like much longer on their wedding day. This is probably due to multiple sessions and countless images taken! Also, several friends, family and acquaintances were on hand to add even more of a comfortable feel. Capturing striking images of this couple was not hard… they both are attractive, fun and easy to work with.

The wedding ceremony and reception were held at a private residence in Chatsworth, CA. Actually, the word residence doesn’t quite do this home justice. Films, TV shows and now weddings are on the resume… Due to the rain, the ceremony was held in a large tent which actually added a “comfy” sense of intimacy. This wasn’t quite what Meghan had envisioned, but it worked out really well in the end. The ceremony itself was quite touching and it was obvious to every guest present that this couple was madly, passionately in love!
