Lauren & Marvin | Los Angeles Engagement Session

I know I say it all the time but I LOVE MY JOB! On a gorgeous Spring afternoon recently I strolled through the streets Los Angeles, CA with Lauren & Marvin. Between the talking and laughing we managed to grab some incredible images of their fun relationship. Our journey took us from the L.A. Library to Pershing Square to 1st Street bridge and many other unique locations in between. Whenever I shoot an engagement session (and wedding), I’m driven to tell the story of my couple while capturing meaningful images that are both emotional and highly creative at the same time. After spending this time together, all I can say is I’m super stoked for Lauren & Marvin’s July wedding at the Biltmore! Enjoy a few of faves :)

Becky + Sean | Miramonte Resort Wedding

Any excuse I get to travel out to the desert, more specifically La Quinta, California, I jump at the chance! Luckily I have the opportunity to photograph an occasional wedding out that direction from time to time. On this sunny March day, my travels took me to the lovely Miramonte Resort & Spa where Becky & Sean decided to “seal the deal.” I absolutely love shooting among flowering bougainvilleas, old-world stonework and lush fountains. And of course, the mediterranean style grounds at Miramonte provided an optimal setting for these types of stunning features.

For Becky and Sean, the warm atmosphere and lush gardens were a welcome change from their still wintery home base of Chicago, IL. The day was relaxed, and moved along in a classic “stay awhile” Palm Springs manner. For me personally, I love the journey of a wedding day. Documenting and capturing real moments of such a special day is what it’s all about! Please enjoy a few of my faves…

Leslie, Justin & Baby Olivia | Pasadena, CA

Here is another session with a couple years in the making! I photographed Leslie & Justin’s wedding back in November 2011 and also their engagement session that same year. They are such a genuine and fun couple who truly appreciate my work and ability to capture these special moments! So admittedly, it wasn’t a complete shock when Leslie called me about capturing a few images of Baby Olivia… as I had been previously warned on numerous occasions that the call would eventually come! :)

So on a beautiful Spring day at the end of March I headed out to their quaint Pasadena home for a fun little baby sesh. Olivia is a gorgeous little girl with bright blue eyes and delicate details. It really was a joy to capture these images! And the best part is that it’s just the beginning of the journey, as I’m documenting the first year of her precious life!

Melissa & Bryan | Thousand Oaks Maternity Sesh

This was a special session for me! I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Melissa & Bryan quite well over the last couple years. Back in September of 2011 I photographed their Camarillo Ranch wedding… throw in a few studio meetings and an engagement session and you’ve got the makings of a great relationship :) When Melissa broke the news to me regarding their little “growing” blessing, I was ecstatic. I love getting invited to document these wonderful, irreplaceable moments… it’s truly what keeps my passion for photography burning! So in late March I journeyed out to their home in Thousand Oaks and spent a gorgeous afternoon capturing this special time in their lives. Kelly & Ted | Pasadena, CA Wedding

A couple Saturday’s ago on a pristine Spring day in Pasadena, CA. I photographed Kelly & Ted’s Athenaeum wedding. This is the kind of wedding I get excited to shoot on several levels… immaculate details, radiant couple and gorgeous location! The ceremony was at the nearby San Marino Community Church and then it was back to the Athenaeum for cocktails, dancing and a spectacular evening. The course of the day was gently guided by the hand of Samantha Sisk from La Bella Dia and the beautiful florals were designed by Peony and Plum. Hair and Makeup was provided by Kelly Zang.

Lindsay + Bill | Newport Beach Engagement Session

Newport Beach, California… possibly one of the nicest seaside spots in the U.S. It was in this stunning setting that I had the fortune of spending the afternoon with Lindsay & Bill. We started the sesh at Balboa Island (in Newport Beach harbor) which is a collection of quaint homes, charming shops and unique dining… all with a small town feel.

The day started on the water, literally! We launched the SS De Witt right off the sandy shore. This was both fun and extremely entertaining on many levels! Ultimately, there was no capsizing involved, which was highly important for Lindsay to say the least! Although… I will say there were a few times when Lindsay playfully intended to choke me out for suggesting somewhat precarious positions :) From there it back to the family beach house for a quick change and then on to more fun: ice cream, a floral bridge and a killer sunset to end the evening.

People always ask me if I really have as much fun as I convey, and the answer is a resounding YES! I truly am blessed to work with such wonderful people. Please enjoy a few of my faves!

Kelly + Ted | Descanso Gardens Engagement Session

I really love shooting engagement sessions! Not only for the creativity factor, but more importantly because of the relationship and chemistry it helps build leading toward the wedding day. This past Sunday I spent a couple hours with Kelly & Ted at Descanso Gardens in beautiful La Canada Flintridge, CA. There’s something quite special about Descanso as it awakens from it’s “winter slumber.” Beautiful Camelias, Cherry trees and Lilacs (among other things) were on full display! Enter in a beautiful couple reflecting the excitement of their engagement and you’ve got the ingredients of a stunning session. Some of my favorite images featured the ornate and colorful Japanese Gardens. Please enjoy a few of the images below that caught me eye!

Laura + Chris | Pasadena, CA Engagement Session

On a chilly January day in Pasadena, I walked the streets of Old Town with Laura & Chris. This was a make-up session from the end of 2012 when we had a flurry of rain storms. Possibly one of my favorite cities of all time, Pasadena is never short on little “nooks and crannies” to discover. One of those really interesting spots (first image below) was simply a back alley filled with vibrant art scenes. From that point forward it was a combination of talking, walking, shooting and encouraging…for those PDA moments that everyone loves looking at, but also can be slightly embarrassing! I mean, it’s not everyday you pick up (or get picked up) by your significant other in the middle of a crowded street, ha ha.

I hope you enjoy some of my favorites below! After spending a couple hours with Laura & Chris, I seriously can’t wait for their wedding in June at Sherwood CC.

Athenaeum University Club, Pasadena

Every now and then I get to spend time photographing special events at one of my all time favorite venues; The Athenaeum University Club on Cal-Tech’s campus in Pasadena, CA. Not only is the venue rich in history, such as when Albert Einstein and other Nobel Prize winners would dine on a regular basis, but truly a magnificent site to behold. Greece styled features and ornate embellishments coupled with an old Pasadena look and feel… how could you go wrong?! Please enjoy a brief video slideshow below.

Aaron + Lauren | Pasadena, CA Engagement Session

So here were are, getting to the end of 2012 and I’m trying to get caught up on my blogging! This next engagement session was one of my favorites. I spent a sunny, summer’s day in Pasadena, CA last July combing the streets while capturing touching glimpses into Aaron & Lauren’s intimate relationship. This session was also very meaningful for me on a personal level as both Aaron & Lauren are good friends and Aaron’s worked at Epic Imagery on various levels in the past. We started the adventure near the Paseo Colorado shopping area, and then simply wandered the streets in search of interesting locations, brick lined alleys and “the perfect light,” which I’m pretty sure we found!
