Anytime I can get out of the city of Los Angeles and shoot a wedding, I’m a happy guy! Especially when the wedding is in Ventura County and the weather is about 20 degrees cooler. On this gorgeous Saturday in July I photographed Sarah & Tyler’s wedding at Bella Victorian Vineyard in coastal Camarillo, CA.

This was a very special wedding to photograph. I had been working with the bride’s mom Carol for several months and it was amazing to see everything come to fruition. In this day and age, it was refreshing to see such close, tight-knit families surround the bride & groom with love and support. Also, it was obvious to everyone present that Sarah & Tyler were absolutely OBSESSED with each other. This excitement lent itself to emotional, creative and inspiring images.

Please enjoy a few of my favorites!

There is nothing like photographing such a vibrant couple in a new city to offer me a fresh perspective and renewed inspiration.  Being in an unfamiliar city provides even more opportunities for creativity and a chance to take advantage of what the setting has to offer.  Earlier this month, I traveled up to the Bay Area with my family in tow (shooting destination assignments are a great excuse for a mini vacation)! We were excited to introduce our boys to this exciting city and I’d been looking forward to this session from the moment that Kimberly and Adam chose me as their photographer! The city of San Francisco is animated, eclectic, and overflowing with a culture unlike any other in the world.

On this crisp and sunny summer day, I met Kimberly and Adam at their home within walking distance of The Embarcadero where the famed Pier 39 resides. We then proceeded to travel to various locations throughout the city, each one with its own unique charm. We started shooting in The Presidio which offered a beautiful natural setting, and then made our way to Ghiradelli Square.  Lastly, we visited The Palace of Fine Arts where the amazing architecture helped to capture this couple’s magnetism. It was such a pleasure spending the afternoon developing a stronger relationship with them and I eagerly anticipate their wedding in Lake Tahoe in September!

I photographed this stunning couple a few weeks ago in Pasadena, CA.  You may recognize them from some of the captivating engagement images I shared in a previous post.  Both the ceremony and reception took place at The Athenaeum University Club on Cal-Tech’s beautiful campus. The Athenaeum is one of my favorite wedding venues; partly because I love the classic old-world Pasadena feel and amazing architecture, but mostly because of the talented people and vendors I get to work with there.

On this toasty, mid-June Saturday, Sarah & Andrew came together as husband and wife. I of course, was honored to capture the “big picture” all the way down to the finest details. I absolutely loved working with this magnetic couple! From my first encounter with them in my studio, to the engagement session and finally their wedding day, they were both a joy to work with. Sarah is bounding with energy and enthusiasm and sweeps Andrew along with her fun spirit! Having an intimate look into their relationship allowed me to capture moments and expressions of their mutual love and adoration for each other.

Also a thank you to the two people that made my job incredibly easy: Dior Chase, Private Events for The Athenaeum and Wedding Planner, Samantha Sisk 🙂

This wedding was just plain FUN from beginning to end; from the adorable couple, the bridal party and all the way down to Whitney & Pat’s adorable pooch “The Toast!” On a gorgeous Sunday at the end of May, I had the privileged of photographing Whit & Pat’s amazing wedding at Orcutt Ranch Horticultural Center in West Hills. The Ranch is a scenic spot nestled among citrus orchards, large oaks and botanical gardens. The property also features a 1920’s adobe style residence, giving it a historical, early California feel, which offered a beautiful backdrop for inspiring images.

When I arrive on the scene, the first thing I typically do is make my way to the Bride’s room. I love starting early and grabbing details such as the flowers, rings and shoes. I also really love capturing “real moments” and just simply telling the story… For this wedding it was really easy! Whitney was just glowing with excitement and looked radiant in her gown. Pat looked quite charming in his own right, of course. However, as good as they looked separately, together they were simply electric! And, they pretty much did anything I asked with a willing spirit, which is a GREAT recipe for amazing images! (take a look)

The details & decor at this wedding had a rustic, yet elegant feel with many eclectic details. The highlight for me was the “old fashioned” photo booth with picture frame, hanging chandelier and mirror.  The day rolled along smoothly with help from Kara Dykert & team from Willow Events. Also, make-up artist Karin Giron did a fabulous job. Also, thanks to Kyle Ellis for assistance! To view my portfolio, please click here.

Over the Memorial Day weekend recently, I photographed Bonnie & Brian’s wedding at a scenic Malibu, CA estate called Rancho del Cielo. The setting was both awe-inspiring and intimate. Although smaller in guest count, there was no lacking in the amount or attention to details. From the start, Bonnie expressed to me how important many of these thoughtful, ornate touches were to her… and to see them come to life at her wedding was incredibly special.

The day unfolded with a nice, relaxed and casual feel. Friendly conversation, scrumptious eats and of course, emotional vows were a pleasure to photograph. Speaking of photograph, check out a few of my favs!

This was such a fun shoot! I was overjoyed when I received a call from Katie to set up a shoot for her girls. I’ve had the chance to photograph their fun “free spirits” for quite a few years now. On this gorgeous spring day I captured a few images of middle sister, Skylar, adorned in her First Communion dress along with various other images of all the sisters. These girls have such fun, bubbly personalities separately, but put them together and watch out! Containing them is out of the question, it’s mostly just trying to hang on and grab “real moments” of their true personalities. I hope you enjoy a few of my favs!
